Ella Baché, one of her biggest sponsors set sail with her.
After 210 days at sea, alone and non-stop, she arrived to be welcomed as a national heroine in Sydney on the 15th May.

"THE YOUNG GIRL AND THE SEA
The solo round the world trip has become the new challenge for young girls. At 16, Australian Jessica Watson returned to Syndey harbour after 210 days spent out at sea, alone and without stopping, making her the youngest sailor to have accomplished such a feat, the previous record having been set by an 18-year-old Australian. The 13-year-old Dutch girl was the talk of the town some months ago when the authorities in her country forbid her from attempting the same thing.

The performance of Jessica has to be saluted; she braved 12m waves, passed Cape Horn, and her boat was submerged in water several times. The only damper: the international sailing federation will not recognise her record, the required minimum age being 18..."

Strapped to her bunk, she waits, out of breath. Objects fly in the cabin, full of sinister creaking. On the 23rd January, "Ella's Pink Lady " returned from the Atlantic. 180 degrees. The vertical mast is underwater. Outside, a wind of 65 knots. Force 12. Nothing to do but hold on tight, hoping the boat will resist this infernal rocking chair game. That day, it would capsize four times... "

"Her name is written in the sky, but Jessica is on the horizon. This Saturday, 15th May, alongside the Sydney opera house, all eyes will be on the stormy sea. The wait lasts several hours. Suddenly, at 1.53PM, sirens ring out, a clamour rises up in the crowd that has come to welcome their heroine. Escorted by hundreds of boats and four helicopters, the pink yacht finally appears. On board Ella's Pink Lady, which is ten metres long, Jessica Watson completes her solo round the world trip after seven months at sea, non-stop and without assistance..."
