Sun

You say you need sunshine and a "healthy tan" to feel naturally beautiful and full of energy? Nothing could be more normal: the sun contributes to our psychological well-being. Veritable anti-depressants, the sun's ultraviolet rays contribute to the production of melanin. But exposure without taking precautions can also accelerate the appearance of premature signs of ageing on your skin (wrinkles, freckles). The following are our recommendations so that you can enjoy the sun's benefits without its negative effects, in order have skin that is both tanned and protected.

NUTRIDERMOLOGIE® Specialists' Recommendations

Beautifying Foods

Put some sun in your plate! Carrots, tomatoes, watermelon, apricots, spinach, etc. All of these foods rich in beta-carotene or lycopene (from the carotenoid group) help prepare your skin to absorb the sun. The promote the appearance of a tan and their antioxidant effect protects your skin from the ultraviolet rays that cause skin to age prematurely.

Water for thirsty skin Out in the sun, you rapidly lose a large amount of water through perspiration. Result: your skin dries out and tightens up! In order to avoid this unpleasant feeling and regain a supple, moist skin, it is important to drink enough liquids. It is generally recommended that you drink liquids often, in small amounts. In total, at least 1.5 litres of water a day (and if you practice sports, you need to drink more). Which water is best? Plain, fizzy, from the tap or bottled, natural or flavoured. It's best to avoid sugary water, which is bad for your figure.

Beauty Routines of Professionals

A moisturising cream, a golden skin's best friend. The best way to protect your skin from the negative effects of the sun is to prepare it properly. Apply a moisturising cream before, during and after exposure to the sun. This precaution will also help prevent skin that's peeling when you return from holidays, but rather offers one that is soft and flexible.

Tips for happy tanning A few days before you head for the sun, remember to exfoliate your skin. Rid of the dead skin cells that dull your complexion, you will tan more quickly. But your skin will also burn more easily... Be especially careful not to forget to protect it thoroughly by staying out of the sun between noon and 4 p.m., and be settling in the rest of the time under a sun umbrella with sunglasses and the right sunscreen, to be re-applied after each bathing. When you return from holidays, exfoliate your skin again, for an even more radiant and uniform tan.

Proper use of the sun Careful! Sunscreen products do not provide 100% protection. Do not stay out too long in the sun, even if your are using a sunscreen product. Do not expose infants and young children to direct sunlight. Overexposure to the sun can be threatening to your health. Apply your sunscreen before going out in the sun. Apply it generously and frequently repeat applications in order to maintain protection, especially after sweating, swimming or drying off.
